John Howchin, Secretary-General of Council on Ethics for the First, Second, Third and Fourth Swedish national pension funds

John Howchin is the Secretary-General of Council on Ethics for the First, Second, Third and Fourth Swedish national pension funds. He oversees strategy, research and coordination of corporate engagement for the Council. John is the co-convener of the Investor Mining Tailings Safety Initiative and a representative for Principles for Responsible Investment on the Global Tailings Review. John has worked with socially responsible investments and corporate social responsibility for over 20 years. Prior to joining the Council, he worked at Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) in Oslo, Norway, where he oversaw the environmental strategy. He co-founded Green Index who in 2000 produced the first climate change index in the world, covering the Stockholm stock exchange. John holds a BSc in environmental science and human ecology at Goteborg University.

Aidan Davy, Chief Operating Officer and Director, Environment Program, ICMM

Aidan has 29 years of cross-sectoral experience on sustainable development issues, working with a range of private, multi-lateral and not-for-profit organizations, including the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation in Washington DC. For almost 20 years, his primary focus has been on social responsibility and accountability issues, with a strong emphasis on the extractive industries. Aidan joined ICMM in June 2007. As COO, he is responsible for strategy development and implementation, collaboration across ICMM’s program areas and integrating communications into all ICMM’s work. He leads work-program planning, the allocation of staff resources and staff development. He also leads ICMM’s work on the role of mining and metals in society. Prior to assuming the role of COO in 2015, Aidan led ICMM’s work on social and economic development, investor engagement, sustainability reporting and independent assurance.

Imran is a Principal Advisor, Tailings and Dams, with Rio Tinto based in Montreal, Canada. He has a Master’s degree in Geotechnical engineering. Imran is responsible for technical risk reduction, strategic planning, corporate assurance and governance and for providing expert advice to various business units of Rio Tinto on tailings management across the world.

Hans have experience from working more than 10 years with geotechnical investigations and dam safety. As a basis, he has a master’s degree from Luleå Technical University in Civil Engineering, soil and rock.
