The Green Transition Starts in the Green Mine.
Mining activities comes with a special responsibility. In Sweden, the EU’s top mining nation, sustainability is our guiding principle – and business model. Therefore, welcome to Örebro, 4-5 October, for the Svemin Environmental Summit (a.k.a. Svemins Miljökonferens) for in-depth dialogues and discussions.
Please note – In previous information it was stated that the conference will be held in English. This has been changed and the conference will be held in Swedish. If you are an English speaker and have registered for the conference on the basis of language and wish to cancel your registration, please contact us. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Day 1: Conference, networking, seminars, exhibition area and dinner. You will have the opportunity to listen to, interact, and meet leading individuals from some of Sweden’s largest and most environmentally innovative companies. Focus areas: mines, nature, sustainability, electrification, digitalisation and biodiversity.
Day 2: Field trips. You will get to know the Swedish world-leading mining industry in practice through various study visits together with Zinkgruvan Mining and Epiroc.
Field trips
>> Zinkgruvan Mining; Enemossen tailings dam, and the new water treatment plant
Get a guided tour of Zinkgruvan Mining’s new tailings dam which is under construction and when completed will be Sweden’s first downstream tailings dam. The visit will also include the new water treatment plant, which is scheduled to be operational in 2025-2026.
>> Zinkgruvan Mining; Mining operations
Visit the mine and get a guided tour of the mining process on site, underground.
>> Zinkgruvan Mining; Mineral processing
Learn how the ore from the mine is crushed, processed, and turned into fine-grained concentrates of lead, copper, and zinc.
>> Zinkgruvan Mining; Sustainable food production and biodiversity – Re:think program
The program is part of Zinkgruvan Mining’s efforts to contribute to attractive communities in the region where the mine operates. In order for the business ecosystem to grow and strengthen in Askersund so that the business community will continue to flourish long after the mine no longer exists, Zinkgruvan Mining started the Re:think program in 2019. During this visit, you will meet some of the participants and visit a food forest, also called a forest garden, which is a diverse planting of edible plants that attempts to mimic the ecosystems and patterns found in nature.
>> Epiroc; Production facility
Welcome to visit the production facility and learn more about the equipment Epiroc develop and provide, such as drill rigs rock excavation and construction equipment för surface and underground applications. You will also get an understanding of the solutions for automation, digitalization and electrification Epiroc provide, and how the innovation agenda goes hand in hand with the customers’ sustainability agenda.
Please note – You make a request for the visit you are interested in when you register. It is an expression of interest; due to the limitation of participants for each field trip, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to attend the visit you have chosen, but will be placed on another visit. Regardless, you will be able to participate in one of the field trips. We will of course try to accommodate your choice of visit.
