This year’s heaviest list is here! Today, the list 40 over 40 is released – a list filled with skills and experience, which was established to draw attention to and make visible women in the mining and steel industries and highlight the knowledge and experience that these people contribute. The interest in nominating has been extensive and among the 40 people on the list is a broad representation of industry, academia and politics. From the list, on March 8, the Fe of the Year is chosen by a selected jury consisting of people from the mining and steel industries.

The 40 over 40 list consists of 40 women who, with their experience and knowledge, have made special contributions in and in connection with the mining and steel industries. The opportunity to nominate has been open to anyone with the criteria that the nominees must be women or non-binary, over 40 years old and with an industry connection to mine, iron or steel.

Fe of the Year 2022

From the 40 on the list, one person is nominated for Fe of the Year 2022 (Årets Fe) by a selected jury and presented at a live digital breakfast on the International Women’s Day on 8 March. The breakfast webinar is broadcast live from Jernkontoret’s house in Stockholm.

About the 40 over 40 list

Women today make up only 20 percent of all employees in the mining and steel industries. The 40 over 40 list has been instituted to reward the importance of the extensive professional experience that builds up over the years and highlight the business-critical efforts women make in these male-dominated industries.

Behind the list are the networks Women of Steel (Metallkvinnor) and Women in Mining Sweden, the employers’ organisation The Swedish Association of Industrial Employers (Industriarbetsgivarna) and the industry organisations Swedish Iron and Steel Producers’ Association (Jernkontoret) and Svemin.
